Moving to Open from Classic..

Hi all, I know that moving is never fun, but sometimes it's for the best. I wanted to write up a quick article including some FAQ's on why and how you should move to inkFrog Open.

First, a bit about inkFrog Open and why it's better. inkFrog Open works much differently than inkFrog Classic. And while it's never easy to move, once you use Open for a few weeks you will learn why it's so much better. The more you use it, the better it is. It's not just us that thinks so, we have tens of thousands of sellers that use it.. and it gets rave reviews!

  • Open offers true mobile friendly templates which comply with eBay's new requirements (including Active Content requirements). This includes the 'tabs' which you can create in your templates! Listings on mobile look fantastic. See screenshots below from an actual sellers listings on an iPhone using our template builder!

  • Open has built in threaded eBay messages (view, reply, manage your eBay messages)
  • Open has library attachments. Every listing you create is attached to a library item where you can manage the listings!
  • Create an incredible amount of filters and saved searches so you can quickly find the items you want
  • Store connectors - You can connect all of your inventory from Shopify, Bigcommerce, and now Amazon directly from inside Open. We keep everything synced for you.
  • True 'Forever listing storage' -- every listing you ever create can be kept inside inkFrog open
  • Templates and descriptions are separated out - and any update to a template, will auto update all of your listings magically for you! (just make sure you manage everything through Open or they will get separated).
  • Open has individual profiles for shipping, returns, and payments!  We've done away with those Global Rules and then having to bulk apply them.  If you link your profiles to your listings, one quit edit to a profile updates every listing linked to that profile!

The above are just a few reasons and I can go on and on, but I'd like to keep this article short if possible.

Next, some FAQs on what Open will do and how you can move

How can I move my account to Open?

While we are nearly complete with our Open converter (from classic to open), you can move without the converter fairly easily. Just create a new account for inkFrog open (if you haven't done so in the past) at http://www.inkfrog.com and Open will automatically import all of your live, sold, and unsold listings from eBay (including images).  Then, connect your classic billing to inkFrog Open by going to this URL (after you login to Open first) - https://open.inkfrog.com/settings/account/classic/ - Connecting your billing will allow you to use both Open and Classic without being charged for both. If you've signed up in the past but forgot how to login, just use your email address and reset your password from the inkFrog open login page.

What about billing (Classic and Open)?

We have great news, you can now connect your Classic billing plan with your inkFrog Open account. Just login to inkFrog Open and then visit this URL: https://open.inkfrog.com/settings/account/classic/ (it will require you to login using your classic username/password) -   We will map your classic billing to the closest, higher plan on Open but you will get to keep your lower, Classic price.  For example, if you are paying $9.95/mo on Classic for 100 listings, you will get our equivalent or higher Open plan but for the same price as you already pay. If you currently get 'unlimited' listings in Classic, you will get our highest Open plan (normally $27/mo) for your lower current, Classic price. And, not only that, but you will be able to use inkFrog Open and inkFrog Classic at the same time, with one single subscription.

What about importing my eBay listings?

That is the great news. inkFrog Open will automatically import all of your live, unsold, and sold listings directly from eBay (including your images). So 90% of all of your inkFrog Classic work automatically gets imported for you. The only thing that doesn't import yet is your inkFrog classic library listings.

What about my Classic templates (prebuilt and custom)?

Here is the deal with templates - eBay's new Active Content and mobile requirements are very strict. None of the old templates, and most likely none of your custom templates meet those requirements. Their new rules require templates to be responsive, which means they change automagically based on screen-size and if on a mobile device. Not only must they be responsive, they also have other limitations which eBay has just recently announced.  Most likely, your templates are not truly responsive, and if they are, they most likely have active content or are limited by at least one of their new standards (unless you've head someone build them recently who knew what they were doing).

Our new template builder in inkFrog Open gives you 100%, true mobile friendly and active content approved templates. These comply with eBay's 2017 requirements. We even offer tabs in our templates which are active content approved!  We recommend creating a template using this new template builder and begin to phase out your old templates (including old, classic templates). Applying an inkFrog Open template in bulk to your listings is very easy to do - just go to your inkFrog open library, checkmark your listings and choose the 'bulk actions-->apply template' option. Before you apply a new template however, make sure you strip out your old templates.  This has to be done manually, unfortunately. Note, you can also use custom templates with Open, just make sure your designer/template builder knows what they are doing with eBay's new standards.

We know that changing templates is a major pain - but after it's done it will be worth it. No pain, no gain as the adage goes. Our new template builder is perfect for today's eBay (clean, simple, professional templates which work great).  Also note, once you 'attach' one of our inkFrog Open templates (and you continue using open to manage your listings), it will be very easy in the future to swap out your templates. We separate your templates from your description - so any template change can be done in a few clicks. In fact, if you update one of your templates, we will auto update your listings for you automatically as well.

What about my inkFrog Classic library listings?

We are not yet done with our library importer/converter. We should have this done shortly. You will be able to import those into your existing Open account once the converter is complete.

@Dan, it shouldn't permanently do anything. .it maybe the new 'default' but they are quickly adjusted when you launch just as you are now.

@David - it sounds like you are just missing something very simple. Typically there is always a way to do what you need/want the same as you were before, it may work just slightly differently.  Did you want to go over this with an account manager?

What happened to the red "re-listed" or "re-submitted" tags on Unsold items? I don't see that in Open. I need to know which items have not auto re-listed after the initial 30 days, so I can set up the auto re-list rules for many times. Please help!

    Greg -

I'll have to go back and try to run things. I'm remembering from almost a year or more ago when Open was still in formative stages, so maybe I'm either not remembering right, or you guys did something different.

I see the 2 minute scheduling intervals got added. I still need 1 minute intervals. If I'm trying to list 300 auctions on one day, with unique ending times, and trying to cram them into "Sunday evening", that's 5 hours, at 1-minute intervals. With only 2-minute intervals, I can't do it. 2pm ending time on a Sunday is worthless. It's already bad enough the Buyers on the Left Coast are seeing Sunday afternoon endings, not evening, for some listings, but there's nothing anyone can do about the time differences. I just try to strike a balance.

Is Serg still working on some of these things for Open? I wanted to run a couple things by him, if he is.

    Thanks.

    Hey Greg et al,

I've been doing business on eBay for 18 years, working with inkFrog for - I don't know - at least 8 years. The changes over time have been tremendous, and every new program has had its dreaded learning curve, fraught with head-banging. Way back in the day, for those of us who are not technical geniuses, the struggle was real.

Yesterday I took a deep breath and plunged into Open for the first time, and I have to say is a breath of fresh air! It is so user-friendly, so clean, so efficient! And absolutely critical for mobile compatibility.

It is a new day indeed, when change actually feels easy. I feel like a wiz -- clearly because your team of experts have worked magic. Thank you for this amazing transformation.

Infrog, why not setup a wish list and let users upvote and downvote. This way you can prioritise your improvements based on what is most requested.

    My WishList

    1) Specific Relist Rules for every listing (just like Classic)
    2) Let us set our SKU ourselves, don't add -1 or -2 to duplicate SKU listings. (just like Classic). Or at least an option to disable it. I used to be list a single SKU auction of the same SKU to boost some traffic to fixed price ones of multiple SKU product. With Inkfrog Open now adding -1 to my auction listings, I cannot automate the backend because warehouse associate one physical good with one SKU only. Thus I have to manual fulfill the order.

    Greg,

I really like the inkfrog shipping app in classic and use it to print from amazon and ebay. can you please see if it can be imported over to inkfrog open. Or just leave classic open to print labels.

I'm having a difficult time transitioning between several different eBay Profile IDs. I'm able to see the different listing by using the filter, but that's not as easy with the dropdown in classic. Also, is there way to see the dashboard stats for a different ebay id, other than my main id?

So, I switched to Open, and I wasn't thrilled to see all my images in one folder, out of order, and with their names all changed to numbers.  However, looking at this thread, inkfrog responses to previous posts seem to be saying that the importer is not yet completed, and that by the time it is finished, library listings and image names will be imported to Open.  Fine.  Do we have a ballpark estimate on when the importer will be completed?  Will the folders for my images also be imported, with all my images in the correct folders? I'm trying to play along and stop using Classic, but right now, Classic works and I can't find my images in Open.  I get why you guys have to change templates, etc., to match ebay's changes, but I don't see any reason you guys would have to eliminate folders, etc., from your own site. Thank you, Jonathan Clark.

I just listed my first item using open and the Inkfrog Traffic does not seem to be noticing it.  Do i still have the Traffic option on Open, it does not seem so!  Also, no one is answering my emails and i'm very frustrated!

I have been trying to use Open and set up the Auto re-list rules for my listings, as I have always used those in Classic. It seemed to work for a few days then yesterday I noticed my total listing count was higher than it should be. I found 20+ duplicate listings that Open had done! I had already removed the auto re-list in Classic so it wasn't that. I tried removing duplicates in Open and then deleting them from Unsold, but some of them still re-listed again. I have disabled auto re-list in Open and am going through ebay to remove the duplicates before they slap me with a suspension.

I have been with Inkfrog for may years, but this is the first time I have seriously considered quitting. PLEASE get this mess fixed ASAP!

hi all, if anyone needs help we can setup a quick gotomeeting for you with an account manager and they can show you the quick 'tricks' on how to do things and get you up and running in Open. If anyone is interested, just put in a support ticket

    Greg,

It's been 1 month since my first post on the this thread.

I have spent many hours working in Open and finally I have to say I LOVE IT! After the learning curve--which was a mountain for me--I find it very easy to use and am able to easily do what I want with my listings.

Of course I have to edit everyone of my listings because of my old template, but  they will be more organized and up to date.

I know you know this, but I want to tell you that your Support staff is the BEST!

I have volumes of messages from Char, Krista, Marie and Sheryl helping with the issues I was having. Their responses were very prompt, helpful and they were very patient with me. Thank you, ladies.

    Thank you for Open.

    hi Greg,

I know this comment may not be best suited for this thread, but I am a user of Highwire and is looking to switch exclusively to Open. What I really love about highwire is the ability to bulk upload

I sell many one-ofs products, and I am constantly adding new products using the bulk uploader, which includes all of ebay required fields. When I was using the bulk uploader on Open, I noticed it only gave a few options, and non that ebay would use. I have no real use for profiles/listing templates because all my products are so different. Is there a bulk upload option similar to Highwire's bulk upload on Open?

This is the missing piece to what looks like the perfect software

How can I permanently change the sort order when I look at my UNSOLD items?  I want them to show up newest to oldest.

How can you immediately change the price when you relist an item?  I am being forced to re-list an item, edit it to change price, re-launching.  What a waste of time!

I'm clicking on the url link so that I can link both accounts,

     https://open.inkfrog.com/settings/account/classic/

but I keep getting this message:

NOTICE: You already have an existing billing subscription on this inkFrog Open account. Please contact support for further information.

    So...?

    Submitting a request.

Hope having a legacy account isn't an issue...

Open seems to work quite well & I like the idea of the font type being in the template & not in the editor.

One Question though: Do I add my Shipping & Payment Terms into my master profiles. I can't see how you can add them into a template, unless it's a HTML template.

Okay, so it's been a month since I started trying to switch to Open.  I haven't received a response to my questions posted September 22, and nothing has changed on Open.  All my images are still renamed and out of order.  All my image folders are still gone.  None of my library items have migrated.  The previous Inkfrog responses on this thread said those issues would be fixed.  They have not been fixed.  Also, Sold items are showing up in my Unsold list.  Good thing I checked before just relisting everything marked Unsold.  I might have sold an item I no longer have.  When I do relist, the new listings take a long time to show up in Open, but they show immediately in Classic.  I can understand why Inkfrog had to change templates, etc., in order to match ebay changes.  I can't understand why Inkfrog had to mess up the things on its own website that worked just fine.  Instead of spending time and effort giving us things we don't need (such as a third set of ebay messages, for example, that we already receive both on ebay and through our personal e-mails), can you guys please work on the fixing the hosting functions?  Thank you, Jonathan Clark.

    @Jonathan

I too have been in the process of switching to Open for over a month. It is a tedious process because I have to edit my listings one by one (and I have a bunch) because of my old template. For me it's like learning a new site...which I guess it is.

I'd like to suggest that you copy your comment above and at the top of this page click on Submit a request and paste it there and send it to Support. I bet you will receive a response in a timely manner. That's what I did early on and have a continuing dialog when I have a problem to question.

For some reason no one is responding to the comments here.

    Good luck.

So, just now entering into the inkfrog OPEN application...

So easy to feel 'lost' on what steps to take to get everything migrated, labeled, placed into proper folders.

Greg & inkfrog team - How about a true step-by-step guide on how to accomplish everything that is required to get up and running 100% again?

We see images being imported randomly, and of course those image urls are absolutely worthless! EBay is not going to find them when our listings have another (inkfrog Classic) image url they are searching for.  With the generic random name assignments, we cannot even find a single one to match to a listing.

So, do we simply delete all those being imported and then UPLOAD all new images (of course, we imagine that those will be new, distinctly different url addresses as well.)

    OMG! Help!

We echo the same concerns as above:

"We see images being imported randomly, and of course those image urls are absolutely worthless! EBay is not going to find them when our listings have another (inkfrog Classic) image url they are searching for.  With the generic random name assignments, we cannot even find a single one to match to a listing."

Furthermore we can no longer see prices (and therefore not sort by prices) or use Globals to change prices in bulk when looking at our UNSOLD Folders?

Major fault there; that information is critical to sellers.

Can we also get some direction on use of the CSV file tool?

It seems that the csv template is nowhere near the same format as EBay's TurboLister CSV format. We used that format to do bulk listings. We used the csv files offline to create listings and then used inkfrog's TurboLister (csv file) imprt tool on inkfrog Classic to upload those to a folder and then launched from there.

    What do we do now?

Are you guys aware that when we look at say the UNSOLD folder we cannot see the prices, unique labels and end times for these listings?

Is there a way to customize this view to add columns?

Would you put that feature in for us?

When flying blind without that relevant information.

Thankfully Classic is available, that is the only way I have been able to relist unsold items. Getting very tired of this not working in a friendly business way.

Greg, sometimes fixed price listings that end don't show up in the Unsold in Open, but they do show up in Classic. I have had to submit numerous tickets about this.
